Seagate GoFlex 250 Gb Portable drive.
I picked one of these up last week for use as a backup drive for my Powerbook. I connected it to the home network through my office based Airport Extreme.
Set up was easy and once formatted for Mac via Disk Utility, the drive was up and running in minutes.
I really like the sleek design of the drive and the inclusion of an easily interchanged connection. It comes with a USB connector that connects into a ‘bracket’, which then connects to the rear of the drive. Other connectors, should you want them are Firewire 800, eSATA or even USB 3 - so lots of room for future-proofing!
Full details can be found here.
In short, if you are looking for a fantastic and relatively cheap portable drive, this could well be worth a shot!
Well, I’ve been on my Tumblr page and I’ve not added anything for 6 month. Which is clearly rubbish. In between, lots of new and exciting things have happened, not least moving into a new house! Mac-wise, there are a few new improvements into the mix, which will start taking shape in the new office: Dual 1.8Ghz Powermac G5, with the hard drive updated to 1 x 500Gb and a second 1Tb. Maxed out with 4Gb RAM. A couple of 1Tb Western Digital external drives. Aperture 2 & iWork now up and running. I’ll be writing on getting from A to B in posts over the coming week using my trusty Powerbook G4 (which has also been upgraded now) and through MarsEdit - what I am using now! In short, watch this space!

There is a certain paradox with technology. On one hand, its supposed to increase productivity and reduce time spent working. Needless to say, the opposite is true.
In order to stay lean and mean in today’s corporate business model: the more time we can shave off by implementing new…

Three years ago when I bought the iMac, I dismissed the mini as too weak and actually looked at a Mac Pro. At one point, I thought about going to a “one Mac” solution and getting a 17” MacBook Pro, but the arrival of the iPad has made me totally reevaluate my computing needs and realize that — at least for me — a desktop powerful enough for my needs (which today’s Mac mini is) plus an iPad is a better trade off than a powerful portable computer.TJ Luoma of TUAW has put some thought into what is “enough” for him. You should too.
